It is best to change foods slowly and gradually. This will give your dog enough time to get used to the new dry food. Usually, the change can happen within 7 days.
Mix the new food with the usual food in the following ratio:
Old food 75% - new food 25% for 1-2 days.
Old food 50% - 50% new food 3-4 days.
Old food 25% - 75% new food 5-6 days.
Old food 0% - new food 100% from day 7.
In some cases, we recommend adjusting feed replacement. If your dog is suffering from severe symptoms due to a food allergy, it may make sense to change the food immediately. This way, your dog no longer comes into contact with the allergen. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, it makes sense to go slower. Then you should take at least 14 days. It is best to divide the daily feed ration into two or three meals. This puts less strain on your dog's stomach and reduces the risk of digestive problems. Changing feed can cause temporary digestive problems. Symptoms such as frequent bowel movements and flatulence are not uncommon during the first four weeks of transition. Your dog needs time to get used to new food. Only then will it be possible to assess whether your dog tolerates the new food. In most cases, a slow and gradual change of food goes smoothly and your dog can enjoy the new food without any worries.
